time frames
« on: Apr 08, 2009, 12:58:25 pm »
Dear Socrateaser,
The opposing attorney filed a motion for continuance on 3/16/09 and I called today to see if the continuance date has been set yet and they replied that it hasnt. Isnt there a time frame in which a date needs to be set? This is a child custody case in Indiana.
Thank you.

Hi Soc is no longer here...
If you are in a middle of a trial then no...you are just told by your lawyer (or they will tell you) when to show up next. With our case, sometimes it was 3 weeks later, sometimes 2 days!
If it is the first time, I think it is 10 days notice to you...they have to have you served in time.
