SPARC Law & Litigation FAQ

19. How do I know what court has jurisdiction in my case?
What court has jurisdiction over your case (and subsequent events) is usually based on where the divorce action was (or will be) initiated. If you have an existing divorce decree, the court of jurisdiction is formally noted inside or on the cover page.

If you or the child has moved and now reside in another State, jurisdiction may be transferred for reasons of law or practicality.
