Search Tips

Using "Wildcards"

The asterisk is a powerful search tool, but has some limitations. It cannot span words - that is, the query "powerfu*earch" would not match the first sentence of this paragraph - and it can represent at most four letters or numbers. To avoid overly broad searches, the asterisk can only be used in words or phrases which have at least two alpha-numeric characters. A search for "t*" would be ignored.

Case Sensitivity

Generally speaking, using UPPERCASE names in the Professional Search Engine isn't a good idea. A search for "john" will match "John", "JOHN", and "johN", while the term "JOHN" matches only its uppercase version. Names are in Mixed-Case, so entering names in UPPERCASE will almost guarantee they won't be found. In general, don't use UPPERCASE NAMES.

Searching For A Phrase

To group a phrase or a collection of words, use quotes. For example, the query "John Smith" (quotes included) will find only "John Smith". The words "John" or "Smith" by themselves would not be found.
